“Let’s go to the movies, let’s go see the stars…”
Anyone else remember that scene in the old-school “Annie” movie?
Well, you will not have to wait long to have the privilege of seeing a few Northern Family Literacy Coordinators and Facilitators making their filming debuts!
In May, I had the privilege of welcoming Benjo Productions to come do some filming in the North Region. They captured some CALP-specific Family Literacy Programming “in action”.
Here's Amal (right), one of the program facilitators at Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning's "International Learn & Play Group", working with Noor (centre), one of the adult learners who regularly attends.
Ben and Sarah, from Benjo Productions, also chatted with CALP Family Literacy practitioners about how they intentionally focus on the adult learners in their planning, programming, and evaluation.
Here's Kate Potter, Family Literacy Coordinator at South Peace Rural Community Learning sharing her experiences for the camera!
It was a pleasure to highlight the great work being done and the impact CALP Staff are making in their communities through Family Literacy programming.
Stay tuned to see the finished videos in upcoming CLN workshops and via CALP e-learning platforms!
Speaking of online learning…CLN is excited to let you know that we are currently working on a new e-learning for the CALP Portal, which will focus on the operational side of Family Literacy programs. Practical tools and resources will be available for you to download and adapt for what “fits” your CALP programming best, so that instead of spending time re-inventing the wheel you can get out into your community and do what you do best – working with adult learners!
