Meet-the-Expert Sessions

The Meet-the-Expert Sessions will be a total of 75 minutes in length.

The aim of these sessions is to provide an informal atmosphere where delegates can interact with experts, who will give their undivided attention for two rounds of 35-minute sessions for knowledge, insight and networking. The session will be open on a first-come, first-served basis.

After a short presentation (up to 10 minutes), the expert will open the session for discussion, driven by active audience participation.

After the first 35-minute round, delegates will be signaled to find a new table topic.

Delegates will round out their Symposium experience with practical working sessions focused on hot-topic issues that organizations face and the solutions and resources that are available to address them.

Delegates will have an opportunity to meet, learn from and consult with the experts in 2 of the topic areas.

Session Description:

Readers often have questions about a narrative or the author of a book they just spent a few weeks reading, but rarely do they get the opportunity to ask them. This session will give readers and authors an opportunity to interact and to share their love of books!

Choose one of our pre-selected books and join a Book Club in June, read the book during the summer, and then attend a Book Club with your peers in early September to talk about the book, and finally attend the Meet-the-Author session to meet the author of the book you chose.

Authors will facilitate sessions and will answer some of the questions you’ve always wanted to know, such as:

  • How would you describe yourself as an Author?
  • In which genre do you write?
  • What inspired you to write the Book Club book?
  • Where do you like to write?
  • What is your favorite time of day to write and why?
  • Are you a ‘plotter’ or do you start writing without much prior preparation?
  • What is the most enjoyable thing you’ve found through writing?
  • What’s the strangest thing you’ve done or experienced to help create a scene or plot?
  • What other publications do you have?
  • Tell us about your most recent book.
  • What are you currently working on?

Authors will get a chance to share insider info about their books, and engage in lively discussions with the audience during a Q & A session (with a Chat Moderator from our team). Everyone is welcome. Let the conversation begin!
