This week's guest blog post is by Cheryl Dezall.

If you are not familiar with this little gem, let me introduce you to an innovative new website for adult learners (and us). In the spring of 2020 a group of CALPs developed and launched this project. Since then it has been growing and that growth has lifted some of the barriers that many of our learners have struggled with by offering them ease of access to learning.

Adult learners can now improve their reading, writing, numeracy, and learning skills with part-time online learning opportunities that are no longer just close to their home but actually IN their own home. This opens the door to more learning choices from across the province.

Adult Learning Alberta not only offers a buffet of online learning opportunities; it is a user-friendly site with easy navigation options.

As we continue to nurture this beneficial resource, we invite everyone to check it out and consider the value to your learners and your learning organization.

Any CALP is invited to request an account so you can post your online learning opportunities to the rest of the province as well.

In addition to extending your CALP’s reach as a learning centre, you can now open up a greater realm of online learning possibilities for the learners you support. If you are unable to offer a requested program, a visit to the AdultLearningAlberta.ca may help you find the requested program being offered online at a partner CALP. Or you and your learners may find new and enticing options that you aren’t currently offering to enhance and complement the existing learning they are participating in in your program.

With an easy keyword search function and a consistently updated events calendar, online opportunities are at your fingertips. Every learning opportunity has a brief description with accompanying pertinent information detailing when, where and how learners can get more information or register.

In this world of evolving technology and increasing demand for online communication, www.adultlearningalberta.ca is simply another essential tool for our armory as we strive to strengthen our connection to our learners and enrich their learning experience.

This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

Requesting an account is a simple process that can help you broaden your learner base and will allow you to showcase the many online learning opportunities you have to offer. Visit www.adultlearningalberta.ca, scroll to the bottom of the Home page and click Sign in. This will take you to the My Profile page where you will find a link to Request an Account. Follow the link, fill in the required information, click Submit and done!

You will find this website is not only a fantastic learner resource but an ideal forum for all CALPs to familiarize ourselves with what is being offered in our greater learning community and to optimize our connectivity to each other.
