Access learners' prior knowledge
Listen to the third step of Foundational Learning Lesson Planning and follow along below.
Accessing prior knowledge gets the learner to the right place in their head. They go straight for what they already know so they're better prepared. They are now ready to take in something new on the same topic or using the same skill. This is where adults have a bit of an advantage over children. Children don't necessarily have a lot of prior knowledge about the things they're learning. Adults have a lifetime of experience and knowledge to draw on, so take advantage of it. | ![]() |
