Learning Outcomes
The Primary Intended Learning Objectives (PILO) for each Literacy and Foundational Learning category are static. Categorization of learning opportunities is determined by the PILOs of each opportunity. They are a beginning. A place to start.
Learning outcomes allow CALP Staff to be more specific. Each learning opportunity will target a skill (or component of a skill) outlined in the CALP Policy Manual. Learning outcomes tell adults what they will learn and do in the learning opportunity.
Here are some examples:
| Learner Goal | PILO | Learning Outcomes |
| Write my life story | Development of writing skills | Writing simple and complex sentences. Using descriptive terms. Writing short paragraphs about personal life experiences. |
| Pass the driver's test | Development of reading skills | Focus on vocabulary. Successfully read and comprehend the Driver's Guide. |
Whenever possible, co-create the learning outcomes with the adult(s) to address their foundational learning needs.
Success can be defined in many ways. The simplest definition of success in CALP is that the learning outcome supported the individual toward meeting their learning goals.
