Intensity and Duration
Adults need time and opportunities to use these skills in their daily lives. When adults are applying their learning outside the learning opportunity and using their skills independently, they are making progress towards, or meeting, their learning goal.
Persistence in learning means continuing the learning process until the learner achieves their goal(s). Research shows that persistence is supported by sufficient intensity and duration of instruction, active participation, and strong retention.
Intensity and duration means providing enough instructional hours per week (intensity) over a long enough period of time (duration) for learners to make meaningful progress.
