What is Teaching Excellence?

Wlodkowski has written that four pillars of teaching excellence with adults are:

Pillar 1 Expertise

Pillar 2 Enthusiasm

Pillar 3 Clarity

Pillar 4 Empathy

Since he is referring to mainstream postsecondary and higher education students in his book, I have added some comments from my research and experience with adult literacy education, which, as identified earlier, often is not the same teaching world as mainstream adult teaching.
