Check-in with learners
Listen to the first step of Foundational Learning Lesson Planning and follow along below.
Let's talk about checking in with learners. When learners have more of a chance to speak in a lesson, it takes away some of their fear of learning and it builds their confidence. We hear more about their life experiences and prior knowledge. Hearing about more of their lives makes it more of an ongoing conversation. We can ask them questions like, "How has your week gone? Did anything come up? What did you do that you enjoyed? Was there anything you struggled with?” This is a chance to continue developing a relationship with the learner. Don't ask too many questions though. Be a listener too and share a bit about your life so it's a dialogue. |
