e-Learning Overview
Assessment is the process of gathering information about a learner to help co-create a meaningful and successful learning experience. It involves getting to know the learner’s goals, strengths, and challenges, as well as the factors that influence how they learn. Understanding this information helps CALP staff and learners work together to shape learning that truly meets the learner’s needs.
Through this e-learning, you will build your confidence in using assessment as an ongoing and collaborative process. You’ll learn to:
- Apply learner-centred and strengths-based approaches to assessment
- Recognize the different purposes of assessment and when to use them
- Identify when and how to assess learning throughout the learner’s journey
- Choose and use assessment methods and tools that align with learner goals
- Conduct intake conversations that uncover goals, strengths, and barriers
- Use assessment results to plan next steps, celebrate progress, and guide learning
By the end, you’ll have strategies to make assessment an ongoing, learner-focused process that supports growth and success at every stage of the learning journey.
