Why: CLN uses the “Adobe Connect” platform to host webinars and online meetings for CALPs. This will be a time where we can explore, learn, and grow our confidence using this “virtual meeting” tool together, as well as an opportunity for those of you with more experience to “brush up” on Adobe, and share your learnings with your colleagues.
What will the “Open House” look like?
It will be a time where we have a relaxed opportunity to:
- Practise getting connected on Adobe Connect (troubleshooting how to get our microphones, sound, and webcams/videos working)
- Provide practice interaction for asking and answering questions (through audio and/or the chat box options),
- Discuss “best practices” for Adobe Connect meetings and webinars.
I want this time to be an opportunity for CALP staff in the North to connect, but also a safe time and place to try, make mistakes, laugh about it, and learn together in order to confidently take advantage of upcoming professional development and meeting opportunities that happen using Adobe Connect.
Before we meet:
- Please print off the following document (or search “Adobe Connect Quick Start Guide” Documents on the Portal) to refer to during our time together. Remember that I am only a phone call away, and also that we will have “virtual” support from other CLN staff during this time to make it a beneficial learning experience.
*Remember to print the guide in “Landscape” in order to have the font readable!
When you click on the meeting room link (in the “Details” section above), please write in your first and last name and “Enter” the room. If you’re ambitious or experienced with Adobe Connect, feel free to run the “Audio Setup Wizard” under the “Meeting” tab. Don’t worry if you don’t get a chance to do this ahead of our Open House, as we will walk you through it if needed.
The reality is that in the North, the privilege of meeting face to face only happens occasionally, and Adobe Connect gives us one more venue to interact “virtually” when we are not able to in person.
