Building Blocks Facilitator Training
Registration for this training is now closed.
Trainers: Dadye Teschl & Judy Goyette-Marsh, Literacy for Life Foundation
Participants in the Building Blocks Facilitators Training will receive basic training to become an In-Home Literacy Builder. Many of these strategies can be transferred to other types of literacy programming or used by other early years programs. Participants will improve their understanding, knowledge and skills of:
- Family Literacy
- The nine essential skills and how to integrate those skills into every day literacy activities with a primary focus on the adult/parent
- Early language and literacy development
- How people learn (learning styles, brain architecture, adult learning principles)
- Barriers to learning
- Integration of skills and knowledge within the home
- Parenting
- Strategies that promote literacy and learning in everyday activities to create a positive learning environment within the family.
Builders will be involved in “hands-on” experiences through games, in-home visitations scenarios and other literacy activities that will help them facilitate the parents'/adults' learning. These skills will allow Builders to expand or adapt the program to better serve adults with children ages 0-6 in their own communities.

Refunds will be applied to the original form of payment (i.e. the credit account used to pay for the registration).
