Compassion fatigue and creating healthy support systems in our communities

Session Description: Do you work in a helping profession or often find yourself acting as support for your friends, family and community? This full-day session will explore topics around the realities of compassion fatigue, strategies for self-care and how we can benefit from creating communities of care.

  • Grace Dion, 10 am to noon, Introduction to Compassion Fatigue and brain physiology
  • Joy Medori, 1 to 4 pm, is a Provisional Psychologist currently working with the Multi-Cultural Health Brokers in Edmonton. Joy has worked with the Alberta Council of Women's Shelters as both an employee and contractor. Most recently on projects around women's shelter worker education and training and updating the Danger Assessment Tool. Joy has a special interest in trauma and self-care in marginalized communities.
