ESL Practitioner’s Study Group - Grammar
Join us for an engaging study group series focused on grammar for ESL practitioners. This series will equip participants with effective strategies, insights, and resources to enhance grammar instruction in their tutoring or ESL classes. Together, we will explore practical teaching techniques, discover classroom activities, and build a supportive community of practice with fellow educators. This is an excellent opportunity for ESL instructors to expand their knowledge and refine their teaching skills in a collaborative setting.
Throughout the series, we will cover the following topics:
Day 1: Verb Tenses and Verb Forms
Dive into the essential components of verb tenses and forms, exploring how to teach their functions and uses effectively to ESL learners.
Day 2: Simple Tenses
A focus on the present, simple past, and simple future tenses, emphasizing techniques to clarify these foundational structures.
Continuous (Progressive) Tenses
Learn how to present the present, past, and future continuous forms in ways that make their meanings and contexts more accessible to students.
Perfect Tenses
Unpack the complexities of the present, past, and future perfect tenses to help learners understand these advanced structures.
Day 3: Sentences, Clauses, and Phrases
Explore the building blocks of sentences, from phrases to clauses, to support clear and accurate expression in writing and speaking.
Day 4: Review of Sentences and Phrases
Revisit and reinforce sentence and phrase structures, integrating them into practical activities and exercises.
Day 5: Punctuation
Discover strategies for teaching punctuation that enhances clarity and coherence in students' writing.
