Free Webinar: Succession Planning
Tanis Harms (Community Learning Network)
Location: Online via Adobe Connect
Region(s): North, West Central, East Central, Central, South

Succession planning…we know we should do it, but for many organizations, it is one of those tasks you never get around to doing! This year, make it your goal to spend a little time thinking and discussing this important governance issue. What is a staff person’s role in succession planning? What are the Board’s responsibilities? Why and how can you get your Board “on board” with the succession planning process? In this session we will cover many areas including:
- what is succession planning?
- what are the important considerations to keep in mind?
- what are the pros and cons of different approaches?
- why shouldn’t we just bring in your sister-in-law to fill the vacancy anyway?
This session will explore what you should do to develop a useful succession plan.
Have this conversation BEFORE you or other amazing people from your organization leave or moves to greener pastures: you will be glad you did.
This session is presented by Community Development Officer Kim Ghostkeeper with Alberta Culture and Tourism in partnership with the Community Learning Network.
