NorQuest College's Alberta Routes program offers this two-part interactive workshop series to provide EAL practitioners with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to proactively incorporate anti-racism principles into their teaching or tutoring approaches. The aim is to equip participants with the skills needed to confront and dismantle racism within their context. In this workshop, participants will dive into the impact of racism on language learning and, by extension, learners' overall educational experiences. Furthermore, participants will navigate the complexities of acknowledging and addressing systemic racism in the education system while fostering a commitment to equity and social justice. They will be better prepared to create welcoming and supportive spaces where learners from diverse backgrounds feel valued, seen, respected, and empowered.
