Literacy and Parenting Skills (LAPS) is an innovative literacy program, designed to help parents build foundational learning, literacy and parenting skills. Parents learn strategies to help their children develop literacy skills, while exploring parenting topics and improving their own literacy skills.
What will I learn?
This three-day training will equip you to facilitate LAPS programming, including LAPS for Indigenous and ESL learners.
It includes:
- New LAPS curriculum and how to incorporate it into your agency’s programming
- Facilitation strategies for working with adult foundational learners
- How to start a literacy program in your community
- Literacy instructional techniques
- Cross-cultural facilitation strategies
Dates: Monday, June 24 to Wednesday, June 26, 2019 - 9am-4pm (Mon, Tues) & 9am-12pm (Wed)
