Rural Routes: ESL Tutor Essentials Study Group

After attending the Rural Routes ESL Tutor Training*, what’s next for tutors? In five weekly sessions, this online study group explores some of the most important aspects of teaching English language learners one-on-one from the first day and throughout the time tutors accompany ELLs on their learning journey. We invite you to connect with other instructors and tutors and learn from others’ unique contexts.

We will explore the following topics:

• Week 1 (Mar 20): Needs Assessment & Goal Setting
• Week 2 (Mar 27): Setting Realistic Outcomes
• Week 3 (Apr 3): Creating Tasks & Activities
• Week 4 (Apr 17): Lesson Planning
• Week 5 (Apr 24): Assessment & Feedback

For whom: Tutors who have previously attended Rural Routes’ ESL Tutor Training workshop online or in-person
