Description:
Based on ATESL Best Practices for Adult ESL and LINC Programming in Alberta, this workshop explores principles and strategies for teaching listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In the process of learning about these skills, participants will gain familiarity with the Canadian Language Benchmarks, discover useful resources, and learn how to design lessons.
Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Use CLB descriptors for listening, speaking reading, and writing at their learners’ level
- Incorporate a wide selection of task types in listening, speaking, reading and writing instruction
- Identify best practices for instruction
- Identify useful resources for teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing
- Plan a lesson
