How does this training relate to my programs?
Building Blocks is about working with the adults to meet their learning needs and to promote a positive literacy interaction within the family that will continue after the facilitator leaves.
The overall goal of the Building Blocks training
The training equips facilitators with the skills needed to implement the in-home Building Blocks program and/or help them embed the strategies and knowledge they gain into their existing programs.
Building Blocks in Home Visitation Services was developed to support parents/guardians and families with children 0 to 18 years old. Building Blocks in Home Visitation Services has been delivered throughout Alberta for over 35 years. This version has been updated to explore the concepts and information required for facilitators based on current brain research and incorporates an active learning approach.
Building Blocks is not a tutoring program for children. This program can be delivered with or without the child(ren) present. It is adaptive and brings active concepts that can be utilized to suit your community’s needs and support learners in their current programs.
During this three-day training, the participants will receive a bag of support materials and a manual. All participants will receive daily breakfast, lunch, and morning/afternoon snacks.
