Songbirds love northern Alberta: Part 1
Fly north in the spring
Every spring, millions of songbirds fly north to northern Alberta. They build nests and raise chicks there.
The birds like northern Alberta because there are many bugs to eat. There is lots of space too.
Raise chicks
The male bird often arrives first. He finds a tree or a bush for a nest. He sings to defend his area. He sings to attract a female.
Soon the male and the female mate. They build a nest. The female lays eggs. Then the eggs hatch.
Fly south in the fall
In the fall, the songbirds migrate south to the United States, Mexico, Central America and South America.
