Verbal

Verbal

This is the language related to what you read - the words used to describe the icons, symbols, structures, or tasks.

The verbal language can be complex and confusing. Often there are multiple words for saying and doing the same thing. Verbal digital language is not as transferable as visual language. For example: the word “desktop” could be applied in different ways, from the physical desk we are setting the digital system on, the digital system itself, a digital desktop where we can see the icons, or even the desktop folder.  The text “Zoom” on the Zoom icon (visual language) is another example of verbal language since the word describes the software.

The word "Zoom" on this icon is verbal language.
