Prediction
Purpose:
Active readers use critical thinking, problem solving and background knowledge to predict what will happen next.
How:
- Reader chooses a topic that is meaningful to them
- Reader makes predictions about the story based on the title, cover image, text and visuals
- Reader constantly checks those predictions as they read
- Reader confirms that some predictions are correct and others are incorrect
- Reader changes predictions and makes new predictions while continuing to read
