  • Professional references (employment or other volunteer experience supervisors) are ideal.

  • Personal references can be requested, but understand they might be a little biased. However, they will often highlight the things they appreciate about the potential volunteer which may help you. 

  • Decide how you will perform reference checks – phone, email, online forms or another method.
