Screening and Selection: Checking References
References – References can give you valuable information about a potential volunteer.
Examples of Reference Check Questions |
- Professional references (employment or other volunteer experience supervisors) are ideal.
- Personal references can be requested, but understand they might be a little biased. However, they will often highlight the things they appreciate about the potential volunteer which may help you.
- Decide how you will perform reference checks – phone, email, online forms or another method.
"I have made our volunteer intake process more thorough which has really helped. I find that anytime I skip steps in volunteer intake, it doesn't go as smooth as I would like." - CALP Practitioner
