Books for Babies (Edmonton June 2019)

Books for Babies
This 1 day workshop provides the participant with the necessary information, resources and skills to facilitate their own Books for Babies program in their community. Books for Babies is a facilitated program for parents and their babies, up to 12 months old. It encourages parents to share books with their babies on a daily basis. The program introduces parents to various ways they can support their child’s early literacy and language experiences and, in doing so, helps promote healthy family relationships.

The objectives of the Books for Babies program are:

  • To promote the enjoyment and importance of sharing books with children less than one year of age
  • To place books in the homes of families who may not otherwise have them
  • To share information with parents and provide resources that encourage and support their children’s early language and literacy development
  • To help strengthen and build upon healthy family relationships through the modelling of positive parenting
  • To offer practical and social support to parents and to encourage them to access other supports, including community resources

Cost: $215.00
