Introduction to Family Literacy

When: Monday & Tuesday, September 11 & 12, 2017 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Trainer: Kim Chung

Registration fee: $100/person.

Agencies currently offering programming in partnership with the Centre for Family Literacy can have one free registration. Coffee, snack and materials will be provided. Please bring your own bagged lunch or there are a number of alternatives within walking distance (i.e. Wendy’s, Mr. Sub, Burger/Donair, Panda Express).

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS Monday August 28, 2017

Introduction to Family Literacy training is a two day training that:

  • provides an opportunity for those new to the field and/or those wishing to broaden their knowledge base of family literacy programs
  • gives an overview of family literacy for practitioners from other sectors working with families where literacy may be an issue
  • covers basic principles such as language development, environmental print and early literacy development
  • enables participants to broaden their awareness of literacy issues in the family
  • offers participants practical literacy strategies to use in their work with families
  • encourages participants to link families with other community resources
