Zoo welcomes two tigers
The Edmonton Zoo has two new animals. They are tigers.
Meet the cubs
Amba and Taiga are tiger cubs (young tigers). Amba is 4 months old. Taiga is 7 months old.
The cubs were born at a zoo in Montreal. They live at the Valley Zoo in Edmonton now.
The cubs like to explore their new home. They like to run outside in the snow. They have lots of toys to play with.
Cubs are Amur tigers
- Amur tigers are often called Siberian tigers.
- Amur tigers are the largest cats in the world.
- They can grow up to 3.5 metres (11½ feet) long.
- They can weigh up to 300 kilograms (660 pounds).
- There are 330 to 370 Amur tigers in the wild. Most are in the Russian Far East.
