Communication involves messages being sent and recieved in a way that is understood. When it comes to digital language, the same applies! It is important to make sure that users are speaking the same language as the devices they are working with in order to get tasks accomplished. There are 3 main categories of digital language (visual, verbal, physical) as well as additional language that is commonly used.
Visual
This is the language of related to what you see - the pictures of icons, symbols, structures or tasks.
Verbal
This is the language related to what you read - the words used to describe the icons, symbols, structures, or tasks.
Physical
This is the language related to gestures - what you do to interact with digital devices such as clicking, tapping, or swiping.
Essential Language to Know
It is important to understand commonly used digital language. Understanding terms such as Hardware & Software, what a computer, the internet, or Apps are means that you can understand the bigger context of digital devices.
