Language

Communication involves messages being sent and recieved in a way that is understood. When it comes to digital language, the same applies! It is important to make sure that users are speaking the same language as the devices they are working with in order to get tasks accomplished.

There are 3 main categories of digital language (visual, verbal, physical) as well as additional essential language that is commonly used and therefore important to know.

Visual Language

This is the language of related to what you see - the pictures of icons, symbols, structures or tasks.

Verbal Language

Verbal

This is the language related to what you read - the words used to describe the icons, symbols, structures, or tasks.

Physical Language

Physical

This is the language related to gestures - what you do to interact with digital devices such as clicking, tapping, or swiping.

Essential Language

Essential Language

This is the commonly used digital language. Understanding these terms means that you can understand the bigger context of digital devices.
