Symposium Survival Guide

New this year: Check out this handy reference for everything you need to know when you are on site at the Symposium. This year, the theme for the event is “Creating Safe and Welcoming Spaces”. We know that CALP staff strive to offer literacy and foundational learning opportunities that are relevant, engaging and accessible for adult learners, and that you work hard to ensure that you are creating safe and welcoming spaces. We want you to feel that you are in a safe and welcoming space while you are at the Symposium. To help you get the most out of this event, here are a few tips to make this a great experience.

Program Information

For an overview of the schedule for the Literacy and Learning Symposium, just click over to the "LLS Schedule At-a-Glance" page. (Note: Breakfast is provided each morning starting at 8:00 am and sessions begin at 9:00 am.)

Under the "Program" tab on the main navigation bar, you'll find information about the various networking opportunities we have lined up for you, this year's keynote speakers and all the training opportunities you can choose from. Descriptions include backgrounds and biographies presenters, a brief description of the session, learning outcomes and the intended audience.

Planning Your PD Sessions

On Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26, Symposium delegates can choose from a wide range of PD and training opportunities. The length of the sessions vary, from 80-90 minutes, half-day, full-day and two-day sessions. To be sure that you are not choosing sessions that will conflict with each other, you can print off this "Breakout Sessions At-a-Glance" one-pager to see when the sessions are offered, and how long they are.
